How to Manage Anxiety in Everyday Life
16 August 2026 | By Rashida N. Wright
Anxiety is one of the most common experiences of modern life — and one of the most misunderstood. It is not a character flaw or something to be ashamed of. It is a response system that has become overprotective. With the right tools, you can manage it so it no longer manages you.
Understand Your Triggers and Early Warning Signs
Anxiety rarely appears from nowhere. It sends early signals — shallow breathing, tense shoulders, racing thoughts, irritability. When you know your unique warning signs, you can act early instead of reacting late.
Use Calming Breath to Reset Your Nervous System
When anxiety rises, your breath becomes shallow and fast, which tells your body there is danger. Deliberately slowing your exhale — breathing out longer than you breathe in — sends the opposite signal and activates your relaxation response.
Contain Your Worry With a 'Worry Window'
Set aside fifteen minutes a day for worrying — and only that window. When anxious thoughts arrive outside it, write them down and tell yourself: I will address this at my worry window. This contains anxiety instead of letting it run all day.
Move Your Body to Process the Energy
Anxiety is energy preparing for a threat that isn't coming. A walk, stretching, or any movement helps your body metabolize that energy. Even five minutes of movement can visibly lower anxiety intensity.

How Coach Rashida Works
Rashida blends life-mastery coaching with the science of breath and the art of plant-based wellness. Her approach is holistic and practical: sessions are built on real, measurable steps, and every plan is tailored to your life - not a one-size-fits-all program.
She has led wellness retreats and breath-transcendence trainings in the Pocono Mountains and co-taught with Master Teacher Ayo Handy-Kendi. You can work with her in person at her retreat space or online from anywhere.
Common Questions About Mentoring
Honest answers to the questions clients ask most before booking.
What is the difference between mentoring and coaching?
Think of coaching as asking the right questions and mentoring as walking beside you with guidance and accountability. In practice the two blend: you get both the reflective questions and the structured support to build confidence through guided practice.
Can mentoring help with career confidence specifically?
Yes. Much of career confidence is built from evidence - doing hard things and surviving them. Mentoring creates a steady stream of manageable challenges so you build that evidence in a safe, structured way before the real moment arrives.
How is this different from therapy?
Coaching and mentoring are future-focused and practical - we work on goals, habits, and confidence rather than treating clinical conditions. If you are dealing with a diagnosed mental-health condition, therapy is the right first step alongside any coaching.
